4 Months Old!

Keller went for his 4 month check up last Thursday. I will probably say this a million times, but I can't believe how fast he is growing! It really is amazing. My little bug changes every day, and I wish time would just slow down! (exactly the opposite of how I felt at the end of my pregnancy!). The doctor's visit went well. Keller is a healthy chunky monkey :) He's 16.9 lbs and 26 in. Thats the 80th percentile for weight and 90th for height. We've got a linebacker on our hands no doubt! I'm going to have to start looking for a new carseat soon, unbelievable. Of course the little guy had to get another round of shots, but he did great. Just a quick cry (which broke my heart) and then all better!

As I mentioned, Keller is changing every day. His latest trick is squealing. I mean pretty much non-stop squeals of happiness. I guess he is testing out his high range :) He still loves "lap surfing" and pulls up to sitting and standing very well. He gets tummy time every day to work on rolling over, but is not a big fan. We have been reading a lot to Keller lately, and he really loves it. He is actually starting to follow the pictures in the book and touch the "fuzzy" books. The doctor gave us the ok to start trying solids! We will probably start that endeavor in a couple weeks. I'm really excited to see his reaction. Keller is a very happy baby. Unfortunately, he is so happy and has so much fun, that lately he has not been very interested in naps. He has 2 to 3, 1 hour naps a day. It makes for a full day for mom and dad, but he is sleeping 7pm to 7am at night, so we can't complain!

Below are a few recent pictures, as well as some pictures from Easter since I didn't get a chance to post those.  Easter was fantastic, with a great easter egg hunt with all of Keller's cousins! We've also been taking a monthly picture of Keller in the UGA bean bag. I've posted below for comparison, he is growing up so quick!

The First out-of-state Adventure

Our first family beach trip was a success! We left on a Friday evening... put Keller in his PJs, gave him a bottle, and hit the road! The 5 or so hour ride to Hilton Head was smooth sailing. Keller slept the whole way. We will definitely keep this in mind for future trips, leaving at bedtime is the way to go.

We stayed at the Westin resort Friday night, as our Sea Pines condo would not be ready until Saturday. I've been going to Hilton Head for almost 30 years and this was the first time I didn't stay in our condo. The Westin was beautiful of course, but a condo is definitely better suited for kids. We met Pa and Kat in Sea Pines and spent the rest of the vacation with them. Keller loved getting to spend some time with them.

Saturday we took Keller to the beach for the first time. He loves to stand (with some help!) these days, so we put his little feet in the sand and he just stared down at his toes and grinned. He will be a beach bum, no doubt! Keller was a little timid for his first dip in the pool, but by the second day, he was loving it. So crazy to introduce my little man to the water in the same pool I learned to swim in 20 some years ago.

Mothers day I woke up to a smiling baby and husband, a french toast breakfast, and a sweet card and necklace. I couldn't have been happier. One year ago on that very day I found out I was pregnant with my love bug. We spent the day at the pool, then Pa and Kat babysat Sunday night while Keller was sleeping so  Sean and I could go out for dinner. It was an amazing dinner, and an amazing day overall. I am so lucky to have such a great family, and so happy to be a mommy!

On Monday, we decided to have a beach day. So we packed up all that we needed (which is a ridiculous amount of stuff I have to say), and set up shop at the beach. Keller had is own little shade tent to nap in, which was great not having to go back and forth for naps. While he napped in the shade, daddy made phone calls, and I read a book. I remember sitting there just feeling like "ah, this is the life". Of course 45 minutes later, Keller was up again and it was time to play!

Overall it was a relaxing and exciting trip. We did the usual beach/pool/beach, stayed up with Pa and Kat to play cards and have cocktails, went to Harbor Town, and all of the other things that we love to do each year we come to Hilton Head. Both Sean and I were a little nervous about the drive home, as we would be leaving in the morning instead of at night. But to our surprise, Keller is quite the traveler. He just hung out and played, and we only had to stop once for a diaper change and once for a bottle. We should have known he'd love the road, look at who is mom and dad are!

3 Month Photoshoot

I must admit, I am very new to this blogging thing. So now that I've had a chance to play around a bit, I've hopefully made it easier on the eyes. Also, check out the links to more Keller pictures on the right. Who knew you didn't need a facebook account to see the albums? Obviously not me.

We were so lucky to have such a great photographer for Keller's 3 month photo shoot. While we love our new camera, nothing compares to Ryan's photographing ability and both Ryan and Rachel's creativity! The photo session went well. Keller did a great job, but got pretty tired by the time the basket shots came around. He was a trooper though! Below are some of our favorites. To see all of the shots click here.

A quick update: Yesterday morning I danced with my bug to Yonder Mountain String Band. Later that evening he gave us his first real belly laugh! Now he is giggling like crazy. Talk about a good day. The joy he brings to Sean and I is truly unbelievable!

We are headed to Hilton Head today for our first family vacation. I absolutely cannot wait! I have been going to Hilton Head and staying in our timeshare this same week every year since I was a fetus in my mom's belly. It was awesome to start bringing Sean along a few years ago, and to now come back with our son is truly full circle. I am so excited to see Keller's reaction to his feet in the sand and his first time swimming! No doubt the next update will include lots of pictures and details of this adventure to come. Stay tuned!
