Time Out

We have really been enjoying some "time out" from traveling and having completely booked weekends. Since Memorial Day we have been living the good life just relaxing with friends and family grilling out and relaxing by the pool. Though I love to travel, everyone needs a little "time out" once in a while. Of course we had to attend some gatherings....
We spent Father's Day weekend taking Keller to his very 1st music festival (outside of the womb). We went down to our old stomping grounds and to check out mid summer music festival in Candler Park. I wasn't sure how it would go, but once again the bug was his usual happy self. Who would have thought he'd love music :) ? Keller loved running around barefoot in the grass (wonder where he gets that from?) and going up to random ladies to show off his cuteness (again, where does he get that from?). We put the headphones on Keller and DaDa took him up to the front row to check out the bands. This boy is DEFINITELY our son! We topped of the evening with both Keller and Sean's 1st trip to the drive-up at the Varsity... an experience in itself :)
We also had the 3rd annual Farmapalooza this month. Sean and Steven did an amazing job with the musical entertainment as usual, and UG did an amazing job with the BBQ! Between the music, swimming, kid's games, tons of food, and plenty of drink.... Farmapalooza was a success!
This blog would not have been titled "Time Out" to lure you in without at least a little juice on the latest drama at our house. Yep, you guessed it, Keller had his 1st time out :( Along with acheiving many other milestones this month such as the work "ball", Keller has learned to climb up onto the couch. No big deal, and its actually nice that he has that independence. Except, of course, when the couch becomes a tramploline. You'd think that falling of a couple times would knock some sense into him to stop jumping, but apparently not. So after several attemps at "No" (followed by Keller laughing and jumping harder), and removing him from the couch (which he then climbs right back onto), Sean and I decided it was time for a TIME OUT. DaDa (what, did you think MaMa was going to be the punisher?) put Keller on his little rug we have deemed the "time out spot". At first he just got up and walked away, but after several times of Sean silently putting him back on the rug (and several rounds of laughing, then crying), he FINALLY stayed put for 1 minute (his current time out sentence). It worked! And I really think Keller got the point. I'm sure there will be plenty of couch jumping in our future, but at least now we have another tactic rather than us saying "No" and Keller saying "Ha Ha". I love the little bug to pieces, but he's got to know who's boss so that he won't bust up his cute little mug on that coffee table!
We just finished up another relaxing weekend where we celebrated the beginning of the end of an era... MY TWENTIES. Hard to belive I've only got 1 year left! Now gearing up for the 4th of July extravaganza…more to come!

Apparently this cake was better than his birthday cake!!!

4 Generations!
