5 Months Old!

Yes its true, Keller is 5 months old now.  Crazy! He is rolling over from back to front and front to back, and he has finally started to enjoy tummy time. He can lay on his belly and actually play with his toys instead of struggle to hold his head up. We are practicing sitting up without support and I think its coming soon. He absolutely loves his exersaucer and loves his bouncy even more. I've posted a video of Keller dancing in his bouncy listening to Daddy play guitar. Its now become one of his favorite past times! Mommy and Daddy's favorite past time has become making Keller laugh, there is no better sound! I've posted some evidence of that as well :)
Little bug is really enjoying school now, and I've finally adjusted as well :) He is always happy when I drop him off, pick him up, or visit during lunch. But, I must admit he is pretty much always happy in general. We've definitely been blessed with a sweet happy boy! I hope we are just as lucky with our future kids (crossing fingers!).  Last Friday he came home with his 1st art project at school, I almost cried! (see pictures below).

Couldn't get it rotated, but you can still make out his little smooshy hand :)

Keller's 1st Day of School

We wanted Keller to have something from home to take with him on the first day of school. So last Friday I went on a search for the perfect buddy. I ended up finding a super soft frog "lovie" at one of my favorite baby stores, Koo Koo Bear Kids. When I came home I was introducing "Hoppy" to Keller and Daddy, when all of the sudden I look down and see the following embroidered phrase on the corner of Hoppy.

I immediately got goose bumps. It was meant to be!!!

I have had mixed feelings about Keller going to The Clifton School at the CDC. I was excited for him to meet new people, and have lots of new things to explore. I was also excited about having my favorite little bug with me on my hour long commutes, and being just one building over from me at work. But of course, as I think any mom would feel, I was nervous and worried about new people (that I've only met once) taking care of my most precious baby.
Overall I think the first day went as smoothly as it could have gone. Keller is in the "Lily Classroom" with 7 other babies and 2 teachers (Ms. Jackie and Ms. Gladyce). He is one of the 3 youngest (all born a few days after Keller in January). The oldest baby is 8 months, and the rest fall somewhere in between. I dropped him off Monday morning and he was the 1st kid at school. From the moment we walked in the door he was nothing but smiles. I took him to his classroom and got him setup. I thought it might take a while for him to adjust but he went right to the teacher no problem. I left him having his bottle with Ms.Jackie. I almost broke down in tears on my way out, but stayed strong. The whole morning it was so hard to concentrate on work knowing Keller was over there with all these new things and no mommy to share with him. Tough stuff!
I went over during my lunch to visit and it was so fun seeing all these cute babies and of course getting to love on my sweet pea. He hadn't had a morning nap, which I can understand with so much new stuff to see and so many new sounds, but Keller definitely likes it there (which is most important!). When I picked him up that afternoon, he was playing with some new toys and relaxing in a vibrating chair. He was loving it! We still have some issues to work out with the nap situation, but overall the day went relatively well. Definitely harder for mommy than for Keller! But even though it was difficult for me at first, I am still very happy about my decision to send him there. Keller will learn so much and best of all have lots of fun!

Conked out after his 1st day of school!

The Adventure of.....Food!!!

Keller started eating solids this week! Yet another milestone that I just can't believe has come so quickly. We started with oatmeal. Our first night Buggie was definitely interested but mostly gave us silly looks and very little food actually made it to his tummy. After 2 nights of oatmeal we started on green beans. By the 3rd night of green beans, Keller had it down. He leans forward and opens his mouth as wide as he can. It's hilarious! This boy loves to eat (like we didn't already know that!). Evidence below.

Memorial Day Weekend

Keller's first weekend with the whole family at Grandmas cabin in blueridge was very exciting! When we arrived on Friday, we walked into Keller's cousins Jack, Hayden and Connor running laps around the house. Little bug was definitely on edge, and would get startled and cry at any loud sounds. I was a bit concerned at this point knowing that we had 3 more days of craziness with 4 little boy cousins all 5 yrs and under. "U-B" (Uncle Brett) donned Keller with his newest nickname.... "Rookie".
But to my relief, by Saturday morning Keller was used to the insanity and just sat back and took it all in. He really loves watching his big cousins getting rowdy. I'm looking forward to the day when he is big enough to join the fun!
Below are some pictures of another successful Lewis family Memorial day weekend. We had our annual inlaws and outlaws golf tournament, roasted a pork shoulder, celebrated  U-G's "Uncle GC" and Aunt Fallon's birthdays, told ghost stories to the boys, and enjoyed all the craziness that comes when the Lewis kids and now their kids get together! There were many competitions as usual, and Grandpa Duck won the "triple crown".....beating everyone in golf, euchre, and cornhole.
